About DL Guide

DL Guide is an independent publisher of self-help guides for people facing an official decision that affects their daily life. We are not a law firm, a medical practice or a government body, and we don’t act for anyone.

What we make

The Independent Guide to DVLA Medical Licence Decisions is for drivers in England and Wales whose licence has been revoked or refused on medical grounds, or whose DVLA medical decision is taking too long, and for the families helping them. It puts the official process in order, with checklists, a deadline calculator and letter templates, so people can take each step themselves and on time.

How the kit was researched

Every rule, date, address and figure in the kit was taken from GOV.UK, DVLA’s “Assessing fitness to drive” guide and leaflets, DVLA’s annual report and legislation.gov.uk, and checked against those sources in October 2026 (the sources were accessed on 4 October 2026). Every condition, rule and process page names its source, and the kit’s own suggestions are labelled as such. Every fact was then re-checked against those sources in a separate review. The kit hasn’t been reviewed by a solicitor, a doctor or DVLA.

What we will never do

  • Pretend to be, or look like, DVLA or any government service.
  • Promise that you’ll get your licence back, or predict what DVLA or a court will decide.
  • Give a medical opinion on whether anyone is fit to drive.
  • Review individual cases, file anything or represent anyone.
  • Show fake reviews, invented numbers or pressure tactics.
